Refractory Mortar
Refractory mortar systems for brick masonry, lining joint filling and localized high-temperature repair.
Overview
Refractory mortar is an unshaped refractory material used for refractory brick masonry, lining joint filling and local repair. It is normally used with refractory bricks from corresponding material systems, helping bond the bricks, fill joints and improve the integrity of the lining structure.
Compared with refractory castables, refractory mortar is mainly used for brick joints and thin bonding layers rather than large-area monolithic casting. A suitable mortar helps reduce heat loss, gas penetration and corrosion paths through brick joints, supporting better structural stability of refractory brickwork at high temperature.
Depending on the matching refractory brick material and service environment, refractory mortar can be divided into general refractory mortar and magnesia-based refractory mortar. Different types vary in refractoriness, bonding strength, installation performance and high-temperature stability, so the mortar should match the lining brick material and service area.

Key Features
Reliable Bonding and Joint Performance
Correctly matched refractory mortar improves bonding at brick joints, reduces penetration paths and helps the completed brick lining maintain structural integrity under high-temperature service.

Suitable for refractory brick masonry, joint filling and local repair.

Improves bonding performance and lining integrity at brick joints.

Good workability for on-site mixing and installation.

Different mortar types can be selected according to refractory brick material.

Helps reduce joint penetration, corrosion and local loosening risks.

Compatible with high-alumina bricks, magnesia bricks and other lining materials.

Product Series
Compatible Refractory Material Systems
Refractory mortar should be selected to match the chemical composition, thermal behavior and service environment of the corresponding shaped refractory brick system.
Engineering Technical Support
For refractory mortar selection, please provide the furnace type, lining position, operating temperature, atmosphere or medium, refractory brick material, required joint thickness, installation method, quantity and project schedule.
JHYRef can recommend NIRLAY general refractory mortar or NIRLAY M magnesia refractory mortar according to the brick material and service conditions, with support for mixing consistency, joint thickness, masonry and curing requirements.
