Description
Magnesia carbon brick is a kind of non-burning carbon composite refractory material made from high-melting-point basic oxide magnesia and high-melting-point graphite, which is resistant to slag penetration, adding various non-oxide additives and combining with carbonaceous binder. As a composite refractory material, magnesia carbon bricks effectively combine the strong slag resistance of magnesia with the high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion of carbon, thereby compensating for poor spalling resistance of magnesia. Their main features include excellent high-temperature performance, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock resistance, and low high-temperature creep.
Advantages
Excellent Basic Slag Resistance
High-purity magnesia gives the brick strong resistance to basic slag corrosion, making it suitable for steelmaking furnaces and ladles with aggressive slag conditions.
Good Thermal Shock Stability
The graphite content improves thermal shock resistance, helping the brick withstand rapid temperature changes during tapping, refining and furnace operation.
Low Wettability by Molten Steel and Slag
Graphite reduces penetration by molten steel and slag, helping maintain lining integrity and extend service life.
High Strength and Erosion Resistance
The dense structure and resin-bonded matrix provide good cold crushing strength and erosion resistance in high-wear areas.
Improved Oxidation Resistance
Antioxidants can be added to reduce graphite oxidation during high-temperature service, especially in slag line and hot spot applications.
Customizable Formulation
MgO content, carbon content, additives, brick shape and dimensions can be adjusted according to different working conditions.
