China’s crude steel output increased by 0.6% year-on-year in the first quarter

In the first quarter of 2025, China’s crude steel output reached 259.33 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%; pig iron output reached 216.28 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%; steel output reached 358.74 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

In March, among the 41 major industries in China, 39 industries maintained year-on-year growth in added value, including ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry up 7.7%, coal mining and washing industry up 10.6%, oil and gas extraction industry up 6.8%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry up 6.5%.
